We performed Shah Jahan by DL Roy in Sydney under the able direction of Chandan and with Biswajit da as Shah Jahan. I was Jai Singha. It was great fun and the costumes and makeup was fantastic. I really enjoyed the super dialogue by DL Roy – the play is a masterpiece.
St Johns Church is the site of some unique bits of Kolkata history including the tomb of Job Charnock, a memorial to those who died at the infamous Black Hole of Calcutta. The original church bell rings from the tower every hour.
Kumartuli is an area in Kolkata famous for the skilled sculptors who make traditional idol images of gods and godesses using mainly clay from the banks of River Ganges. There is no dearth of interesting photography subjects. At the time most of the craftsmen were busy with Saraswati Puja.
I spent a productive hour around 7am clicking some street scenes at Old Court House St in Kolkata. Its near BBD Bag and the High Court. The street vendors were starting the days business. A street market selling vegetables and fish was getting busy. Residents were having their morning shave and catching up on the days news. Great photo opportunities.
Richa went for a photo shoot for Rimi Nayak fashion label. I tagged along as security and the chance to take some behind the scene pictures. We shot in South Kolkata and in the Leather Technology complex near Dhapa.
